Hi, we are Courtney and Jake Berhorst, the Lucas Farm Family! And, our farm is close to our hearts.
This little piece of Missouri has been a farm for over 100 years. At one time it was home to four families raising everything from chickens, to pigs, to dairy cows, to beef cows. Over the years, as the property was passed on and operations shifted, the focus became beef cattle; and more recently, regenerative agriculture. Beef cows have been raised here since the 1960’s and more recently hair sheep. The last decade has afforded us the opportunity to work on soil reclamation projects using natural methods.
Today we produce high quality livestock for wholesale and direct to consumer markets. We like to stay ahead of the curve and make sure we understand and practice strategies that serve our neighbors and our broader market well. Our commitment to learning and adapting has led to a strong, healthy herd and a stable natural environment for them to grow. We are proud of our farm and excited for continued growth!
Meta is much like you’d imagine a Missouri ranching community to be. We are part of Osage County, and our little town is quaint, tranquil and off the beaten path enough that those city lights are hard to spot! We are situated in the Ozark Highlands of central Missouri. We enjoy the rolling hills, clear- running creeks, and open skies. Caring for the land is a legacy we hope to pass on to the next generations. Our family enjoys the process of building our small farm into one that supports not just livestock, but all wildlife in the area; from deer to bees.
